We recently interviewed Gladys Awenia Abem, Digital Marketing at Bethel Logistics in Ghana:
 
> How did you start out in Freight Forwarding?

"Bethel Logistics started as a courier company in 2008 in a single room at the Aviance Cargo Village. Due to our timely delivery and good human relations, we got the attention of one of the international companies who are experts in handling

Biological substances (World Courier). Within a space of time, we started working with Noguchi Memorial Institute for Scientific Research (University of Ghana) and Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) among other Clinical research centers.

Bethel Logistics  is a registered member with the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) to render the services of freight forwarding, clearing, forwarding and haulage.

We are now affiliated/associated with eleven (11) freight forwarders and shipping networks worldwide, which make us have presence in more than 200 countries worldwide.  

> Your thoughts on the logistics industry today and how things have changed due to the Pandemic?

The freight and logistics industry are heavily challenged due to the problems the pandemic brought on its way such as incredibly high freight rate congestion at major air and sea ports around the world which led to surcharges, loss of human capital and shortages of containers

> What are the main challenges facing independent forwarders?

Independent freight forwarders like ourselves today are facing high rate and neck strangling credit terms.

> How relevant is networking in today’s forwarding industry?

Networking cannot be downplayed as without it, there is no logistics.

> How do you see the future for independent forwarders?

The future for independent forwarders can only be bright because the renowned brands as DHL, DB Schenker, Kuhn & Nagel cannot handle the growing demands alone.
